The forgotten forest – Centuries of waiting for a very innovative material. Today we want to speak about a unique type of wood extracted from depths of the earth after having undergone millions of years of diagenesis and petrifaction processes. This are processes in which the organic matter belonging to the cellular structure of the wood has been replaced by minerals through a process called permineralization. The wood, after landslides and upheavals of the forest, it slowly dissapeared underground where it remained wrapped and protected under layers of clay for centuries. What we see today is an innovative material with a thousand-year history. Now, after a long time, sometimes as a result of excavations and perforations, sometimes as a result of natural phenomena such as landslides or landslides, the trunks are brought back to light in all their beauty.
